THE TOP TEN - PORTRAITS

Left: Very regal positioning, light on the face is flattering, some hair
out of place on the right but not too noticeable, the bottom needs
to be slightly cropped but outfit choice is perfect and tattoos aren't
distracting but gives small delicate detailing on the arm.
Right: Elegant but not feeble, hair is well maintained and tattoo is
cut perfectly around the back but lighting is a bit too soft, more
contrast would have been preferable.

Left: Angelic connotations from the chest height lighting, gives a lit
from within look, Jesus's light etc etc. would be preferable to be able
to edit out the hair on the right hand side and the left arm that just
peaks in.
Right: Lighting is a bit too harsh but the glazed over effect it gives
on the eyes is flattering. The red gloves compliment the bit of colour
from the lips and eye makeup, small light area in the bottom right
corner is distracting as are a couple of highlighted hairs.

Left: Forgotten to do up the back of the dress around the neck,
would have preferred to have a third strong area of red perhaps
made use of the background more, light on background is more
like some old portraits but perhaps a desk with roses on or some
kind of throne or scepter would have lifted it, looks a bit too old
Hollywood glamour.
Right: Again quite elegant but can't help but think I look too
grumpy, jawline could have been darker and cheekbones more
highlighted, a greater contrast between head and neck/shoulder
with another light would have resolved the flatness.

Left: Again forgotten to do up the back of the dress around the
neck, piece of hair on shoulder is irritating, hair in general too
prominent a feature, not quite sure what it is but the positioning
just isn't giving the vibe I wanted to create.
Right: Much stronger and sterner stance but once again a bit
too flat.

Left: Too much hair, not enough negative space on the left for a
rectangular print, would need way more space to be a traditional
oval profile.
Right: Great positioning but just a bit too messy otherwise very
interesting composition with all the diagonals.
Really love all of these photos - even though I'm not familiar with your project aims I can see that the use of lighting and poses has religious connotations (and comments on how religion is portrayed through imagery). I feel like photo number 3 is different to all the rest because there is a hint of hope and happiness in the face, as though you are gazing at something beautiful and wondrous in the distance - the light source coming from the same direction as your gaze really emphasises it. The subtlety but power in your expressions are the highlight of these photos for me, cant wait to see more of your work :)
