IS THIS A CULT? REFLECTIONS ON SOUND EXHIBIT
So I went to the here.here concert from Marie-Cécile Reber where she used nature sounds as a backdrop to some indescribable other noises, it reminded me of the gem featured above. Here are some of the notes I made during this very uncomfortable time:
A lot of people touching their instruments very uncomfortably
I get it but also just why?
Why did these 8 people get together and decide this was a good idea and worth travelling to Farnham to 'perform' it
I wouldn't want to be left alone with these people
What is she fucking doing with her hands?
I am uncomfortably aware of how loud it is to exist
Leather jacket and many dangly jangly earrings was a bad outfit choice
Has an amateur theatre group aura
Unbridled descent into madness
Wait, is this a cult?
I'd love to see what their scores look like
- On that note, drummer at Clapham writing out the beats as we recorded the music video upstairs, drum scores look alien to me
Can't always differentiate where noises are coming from
Woodwind and brass instruments may work better than voice in Noah's Ark potentially?
This was subsequently followed by Professor John Pymm giving a lecture on Steve Reich:
(Well actually there was free wine first so the quality of my notes dwindled)
